1. What are Agrotextiles ?
Agrotextiles are fabrics (woven, unwoven or knitted) used in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and fishing. They can include fishnets, shades, much mats, thermal screens and crop covers. Common uses for agrotextiles are protecting livestock, maintaining soil humidity and temperature, eliminating the impact of pests and general shading.
2. What is Horticulture ?
Horticulture is the science or art of cultivating fruits, vegetables, flowers, or ornamental plants. Etymologically, "horticulture" can be broken down into two Latin words: hortus (garden) and cultus (tilling).
3. What are woven fabrics ?
Abric composed of at least two sets of yarns -- one warp (longitudinal) and one filling (crosswise) -- laced at right angles to each other.
4. What are nonwoven fabrics ?
A fabric not woven or knitted from thread or yarn. Non-woven fabrics, include fake leather and suede, felt, various interfacings.
5. What are knitted fabrics ?
Fabric which is knitted using plain and pearl stitches and is therefore stretchy.
6. What is a Green/poly house ?
A protected structure mainly made up of a frame of either Bamboo, PVC pipes or metallic frame with Jute Cloth/UV Stabilised Plastic Film, Plastic Wires. This chamber may have temperature and humidity control systems for customized growth of plants.
7. What are windshields ?
Windshields are nets made up of PP monofilament or polyethylene tape yarns which are used in farming to protect fruit plantations from wind and to prevent damage to plants. It also prevents plants being cooled by the wind.
8. What are harvesting nets ?
Harvesting nets are nets made up of PP monofilament or polyethylene tape yarns which are used to prevent the natural falling harvesting, hand harvesting or mechanised harvesting.
9. What are root ball nets ?
Root ball nets are made up of nylon / polyester and spandex monofilament yarns which are used for protection of young plants so that root system is not damaged when they are dug up, transported or replanted.
10. What are insect nets ?
The insect nets are nylon fine woven screens used to protect plants from insect attack.
11. What are mulch mats ?
Mulch mats are used to suppress weed growth in horticulture applications. It covers the soil, blocking of light and preventing the competitive wheat growth around seed links.Material such as leaves, hay, straw, or the like, spread over the surface of the ground to protect the roots of newly planted shrubs or trees, of tender plants, etc., from the sun or from the cold.
12. What is a plastic mulch ?
It is a spun bonded PP product which is used, in a similar fashion to mulch, to suppress weeds and conserve water in crop production and landscaping. Certain plastic mulches also act as a barrier to keep methyl bromide, both a powerful fumigant and ozone depleter, in the soil. Crops grow through slits or holes in thin plastic sheeting.
13. What are turf protection nets ?
Turf protection nets are made up of polyethylene tape yarns that are put over the grassy areas on riverbanks; dykes etc., so that lumps of earth are not removed while animals are grazing them. This will help in minimizing soil erosion loss and improve conservation.
14. What are monofil nets ?
Monofil nets are knitted nylon nets used for windbreak fences and shading screens.
15. What are tape nets ?
Tape nets are knitted polypropylene nets applicable for reducing sunlight intensity and to provide support to the fruit while ripening and also for animal protection.
16. What are cherry covers ?
Cherry covers are PP nets used for protection of cherry crop throughout the seasonfrom frost, rain, hail and wind.
